This morning we started our day with a healthy smoothie, as I decided to try out a mixed berry and apply smoothie recipe. It was delicious and really simple, plus I felt like we were getting lots of vitamins inside us and some of our five a day.
What I liked most about this smoothie recipe is that it uses frozen berries, therefore the smoothie is already deliciously cold as soon as it’s made, plus you can store the berries in your freezer until you’re ready to use them, without the worry of them going bad, which I find can happen quite quickly with fresh berries.
The recipe I used is a slight adaption of one I found over at BBC Good Food, where they have lots of smoothie recipes and I will definitely be trying some more.
Here is how to make a yummy mixed berry and apple smoothie:
- 2 chopped apples
- 150g frozen mixed berries
- 150ml natural yogurt
- 2 tbsp porridge oats
- Juice of half a lemon
- 100ml milk
- 50ml water (optional)
Add all ingredients to a blender (minus the water) and whizz together until smooth. Add the water if you’d like your smoothie to be thinner, I did.
I hope you enjoy this healthy mixed berry smoothie recipe as much as I did. I actually have enough ingredients to make another, so I’m looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!
